Does he like me or what guys?

I tried to ring this guy we only normally speak through text ,did only a couple times in school but its hard as we have different cles none are near we are in a different year. I think hes interested in me I'm not certain though we make alot of eye contact with each other. I always look away first as I'm shy he usually still looks sometimes looks away not as much as me he holds the gaze..Anyway the first time I spoke to him he seemed suprised as we never speak in school smiled , the whole time and really listened and looked into my eyes like I was doing to him.Next time he did speak to me first.Another time I said hi to him he said hey back but then went behind me or back then I was down the corridor and noticed he was right behind my mates were in front of me though. Then few weeks on he was with his mates the other day this was weeks later we'd made alot of eye contact that day. He was in the corridor with them I he was looking at me I tried hard not to look at him then as I got past a bit later after he'd been talking loud turned back and looked at him held it for like 5 secs I looked away.Then in the gym he tried to be close in my view he went upstair I went bit later then followed me when I went downstairs after been watching each other. He doesn't always look at me there are times when he won't really bother i think its when hes busy. He doesn't always reply but mostly he does but i think thats when hes out of credit he suprised me the other day when I texted him he replied off his friends phone.He always uses smileys. oh yeah my friend knew someone who had his number thats how me and him got to know each other in text. I tried to call him(private number) today after plucking up the courage to actually let it ring he didn't answer. So do I call again or text him but wouldn't he know it was me if I texted him then? we never talk on the phone. Do I call again tomorrow or thats bad?
