if you did not leave things on bad terms then maybe he is interested in maintaining some sort of conversation. plus, just because he has a girlfriend, doesn't mean his feelings for you went away. he could be using her as a distraction from you. if you are truly not comfortable with this, then tell him you appreciate his need to be nice and courteous but you are not in a place where you want to have contact with him just yet. he should be able to understand that.
